"God is in US!"

We didn't make it to church this morning. My son and I spent the weekend at Lake Chatuge, a couple hours north of Atlanta, with some lifelong friends of mine and our combined EIGHT BOYS and one sweet baby girl. So 8 boys under the age of 8, 1 baby girl, one pristine lake and a group of friends I've known for over 30 years made for a really beautiful, if slightly chaotic at times, weekend.

As we drove home on Sunday afternoon, I told my son, "Well, we missed church today. But look all around you. God is everywhere. Look at that lake. Look at the mountains. Look at this incredible world around you, sweetheart. We didn't have to be in a church this morning to feel God's love and to see God's world and to feel gratitude for this beautiful Earth we live on. This is our church for today. God is in everything you see outside of that window."

And my boy responded: "AND, God is in US, mommy!"

And it was one of those many moments that I wanted to just breathe in and appreciate and keep with me forever.

God is in us. All of us. Thank you for that reminder, and for basically dropping the mic on my little car sermon, my sweet boy. We yogis and wannabe yogis (and spiritual people of many faiths) believe in the Divine Spark that is within all of us, that connects and binds us to one another. That's why we close our practice with "Namaste." Nama means bow, as means I, and te means you. I bow to you. Or, I recognize and honor the Divine Spark within you, within all of us.

Maybe we'd all be kinder and live in a kinder world if we could just remember what we all have in common instead of what divides us.

God is in us. All of us.

Namaste.
