"Salt air it ain't thin. It'll stick right to your skin, and make you feel fine. Make you feel fine." - Jimmy Buffett When I have a sore throat, gargling with salt water helps. When I need deeper healing that goes beyond soothing a scratchy cough, I want a dose of the ocean. At the beach I can set my intention on gratitude and wonder. I look at my boy playing in the waves and I am able to be in this very moment, so grateful for this child and this place where I feel so free. I think the first time I ever meditated, before I even knew the word meditate, I was a 6 year old girl staring at the ocean. I was sitting at a camp site, in the Pacific North West, legs draped over a log fence, just hypnotized by the waves far down below. I did some yoga on the boardwalk this morning, and hearing the waves crash was the only soundtrack I needed. Inhaling the salt air made me breathe easier. Staring at the ocean made me think of unlimited possibilities on the horizon. And hearing my boy's laugh as he rode the waves gave me a deep joy that could wash away any pain. Namaste.
