Yoga Through Tears

Yoga can be emotional for me. I'm not in there for a six-pack or cut arms, but for the mental relief that the hour-plus on the mat brings. When I set my intention for class, often I focus on inner peace. Easier breathing. Less anxiety.
When the world seems to be spinning out of control and I find myself on the mat with a few moments of calm, sometimes wells of emotions spring up. It's yoga through tears. Concentrating on my inhales/exhales with movement helps the stray tears not to become sobs, usually. Not always. That's why God made Child's Pose.
Even when it's a day of yoga through my tears, I still leave class a little lighter and better for having been there. When we're in pain, because of loss, change, stress or any number of reasons, we may feel like we're broken. But from the rubble we grow into something stronger and better. When you're in the midst of it, it's hard to see straight. But this painful time is when we evolve and grow and so let the tears flow. Feel the pain and know you'll come out stronger.
Om. Shanti. Shanti. Shanti. Peace. Namaste.
